Dining and Shopping
Wayzata boasts excellent local shopping with a thriving retail center featuring dozens of lakeside, high-quality retail shops featuring fashions, art, and antiques. In 2016 and 2017 new restaurants and shops have been opening up at an incredible rate. The downtown Wayzata real estate opportunities become more coveted and the Wayzata home values are soaring. Ridgedale Shopping Center is a mere 2-mile jaunt offering a plethora of quality shops and services. If your preference is casual family dining or an elegant, chic table for two experience, you will find an eclectic assortment of restaurants. Many boast picturesque lakefront views where in summer you can watch sailboats skimming the sapphire blue water or the restored 1906 Steamboat Minnehaha cruising on Lake Minnetonka. Don’t forget about winter, still just as beautiful with an incredible view to follow.
Lake Minnetonka is a big form of entertainment in the Wayzata community. Summertime is great for being on the water, lounging at the beach, fishing, and floating at the sand bar. Come winter time, you still have ice fishing, snowmobiling, and ice skating which makes the lake an all year round attraction. If you’re looking for something indoors other than shopping, checkout the Mann or Willow Creek theaters or the nearby bowling alley options.
Parks and Recreation
The lovely, Wayzata public beach on Lake Minnetonka is free to town residents and has a life guard on duty from noon to 6 p.m. seven days a week from mid-June to mid-August. Other recreational options include picnic areas, a playground, a volleyball court, boat slips and playing fields. If walking, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, snowmobiling or cross country skiing is your thing, the limestone 63 mile Luce Line State Trail will fill your needs while the Dakota Rail Trail is 13 paved mile, mostly flat trail which offers spectacular lake views and is perfect for walking, hiking, rollerblading, or walking the family pooch. Also, Wayzata has 10 public parks, where you can walk, picnic, swing, slide, play a variety of field sports, tennis, volleyball, visit a museum, stop to smell the flowers and commune with the bees, feed the birds or just relax with a book by the lake and daydream. In the winter take the family skating at Klapprich Ice Rink. There is lots of outdoor, recreation options in the community, try them out and see which is your favorite!
Wayzata is about 12 miles from the cities which is not far at all. Highway 12 runs through the suburb which connects to highway 494 and eventually turns into highway 394 bringing you to Minneapolis. Navigating through neighboring suburbs and Minneapolis and St. Paul is simple, with the convenient location of where Wayzata lies.
